Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

I am a big Sarah J. Maas fan, so I am pumped for a new series and new characters from her! I am happy to say I was not disappointed!

Crescent City follows Bryce, a half-fae half-human, who lives in Crescent City. This world is very anti-human, ruled over by Angels. There is an insane hierarchy with the angels on top and every other creature being divided into sub-houses. Some are even considered slaves. Crescent City is a little more laid back, with everyone living together in a pretty tense harmony. Bryce befriends Danika, the hier to the werewolf throne, and from there her life changes. They become best friends and endure everything together. When Bryce's life is suddenly flipped over, she has to face the world on her own. Thrown into a crazy dangerous murder mystery case, which she was assigned to by the Angel who rules Crescent City, she has to question everyone and everything she once knew. Not only that, but she now has to work side by side with the angel's personal assassin: Hunt. Snarky and with a bad attitude, the two of them must figure out what's happening in Crescent City before its too late.

Sara has done it again! From her characters to the fast paced plot, I really loved this book! It gave me a mix of Throne of Glass meets A Court Of Thrones and Roses and it's a great combo. We have Byrce who is a badass. She is smart and cool, and people underestimate her, which she uses to her advantage. Her growth as a character is really great to watch, and it's good to see her deal with her grief and her life changes. Hunt is hilarious and snarky. He's obviously hot and charming, but can be very sassy and I love it. These two make a hilarious combo and their tension is perfect. I liked each character and I am excited to see how they further develope in the next books! I will say that the world building in the beginning is very extensive and very confusing at first. I dog-eared the map and the house break downs so I could keep going back to refer to it. After a little bit, it gets easier to follow, but it's a lot to take in at once.
