My mom bought this for me last Christmas (heh, sorry it took so long mom!) because I had been non-stop raving about Hamilton. My mom had actually read it first, and had loved it, and so she bought it for me in the hopes that I would love it too.

Once again, this is a little out of my normal genre, but if you've been reading along with me or keeping up with me on Goodreads, you know that I have been branching out. I have really loved taking a step away from Young Adult and trying new things (but don't worry, I'll be back). My Dear Hamilton is a book written in the perspective of Eliza Hamilton. What I found so interesting about this novel is that the authors (Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie) had to piece together what little information Eliza left behind to recreate her story. Unlike her very expressive husband, Eliza left little in the ways of letters or documents, so a lot of her feelings and experiences are unknown! Dray and Kamoie used her few letters and letters from her friends and family to create this novel, filling in the gaps as best as they could.

I absolutely loved this book. It started at the beginning of Eliza's life and went through all of her adventures and her whirlwind experiences. She was an incredible women who was so strong and powerful. This book is written very much like a story, so it in no way feels like you're reading a history text book. It showed off the hidden life of an amazing women who's husband has been getting a lot of the spotlight recently. She was so badass!! I was really enthralled with the way the story was written and I learned a lot about U.S. history and its famous figures. I think that even if you aren't a fan of the musical, you should definitely give this a try. The Founding Fathers were worse than teenage girls, and Eliza was at the forefront of it all. It was a very humbling read and I really could not recommend this enough!
