Yay for the first book review on the blog! I just recently finished reading "Siege and Storm" by Leigh Bardugo, which is the second book of Shadow and Bone trilogy! Now this will probably contain some spoilers, but I'll try to keep it low-key!

First of all, I love the GrishaVerse. I definitely entered into this whole world wrong by starting off with "Six Of Crows", but hey, no one is perfect. I really loved the first book, and my heart was RUINED when I figured out the Darkling was a jerk. This book takes you further into the politics of Ravka and it also dives a little more into Alina and her mind. To put it lightly, she's kind of a mess. The way Bardugo plays on her powers growing through the amplifiers and the hold the Darkling has over her is a twisted ride. Her character development was unmatched though, and I was proud of her and her choices as the story progressed. On the other hand, Mal annoyed the heck out of me the entire time. I never liked him from the start, and he just kept pissing me off the whole book. He's too selfish (and to boring), and Alina deserves better...like Nikolai...who's witty, and charming, and funny, and perfect. Don't get me wrong, I'm still sort of holding out on the hope that there will be a little redemption arc for the Darkling, but I mean if not...Nikolai takes the cake. He brought a certain charm and humor to the story, and I felt like he really understood Alina and wanted to help her. Not to mention that I would have said yes to his marriage proposal in a heartbeat. I mean, come on, he's a pirate prince with a flying boat!!!!! I'm excited to finish the series and see how it ends!
Overall: 8.5/10
