Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout

If there is one thing you ever need to know about me, it's that Jennifer L. Armentrout is hands down one of my favorite authors on the face of this planet. I have about 4 of the series that she has written, and it's not enough.

"A moment passed, and even without seeing his eyes, I could feel his heavy gaze on me. "You're....frustrating.""

Storm and Fury was tricky for me. As I started reading it, I felt like I was missing out on something. I was pretty sure that it was one of her stand alone series, but I was very wrong. This series follows her Dark Elements series, which I haven't read yet. Now I followed along with the story easy enough, and it didn't seem like a huge deal to the plot if you missed out on the first series, BUT I have to admit that I found Roth to be waaaayyyy more entertaining than Zayne. And since the Dark Elements focuses on Roth, I sort of have to desperately read them as soon as possible. Sorry Zayne, blonde book boys are just not my thing.

"Heat flared in my chest, the power and the warmth of a thousand suns. It rushed through my veins like a storm and heated lightning."

Anyway, this book centers around Trinity, who is this hilarious girl who is slowly going blind but is not letting that get in her way whatsoever. She lives on this compound that houses a bunch of Guardians and Guardians in training. These Guardians are essentially these gargoyles who can transform into humans. Oh and they fight demons. And of course they are all a little hot. Trinity lives there and trains there, and every day she tries to keep her identity a secret. She is the last of her kind: a half angel half human. She is pretty badass and she's a walking weapon against anything. Oh, and she also sees ghosts (Peanut was and is the best character in that whole book).

Her life gets all turned around when a bunch of Guardians come in from another clan in D.C. *In enters Zayne*. He is this tall, smirking, mildly cocky dude who Trinity is instantly taken too. They are thrown into this huge task of trying to find Trinity's protector, and things just get steamy. Think of the classic "only one bed" troupe, and boom.

"I was nothing more than storm and fury as I stepped forward and Misha looked up at me."

I fully enjoyed this book. With that being said, I don't think I'd continue the series until I read the Dark Elements, just so I have a better idea about the characters and their backstory. I loved how fast paced and fun it was. Trinity is hilarious and she's very human in the way she thinks and acts. Zayne slightly pisses me off because he is leading her on but I don't think he means too, which is even more annoying. Roth and Layla are great and I can't wait to read about them. The plot is fun and there is a twist at the end that I was NOT expecting. I definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good fantasy-romance novel!
